This weekend, my spiritual coach hosted a one-day retreat in Minneapolis around the topic of walking your sacred life's purpose. It was a great day (but exhausting in a good way!) full of life lessons, emotions, and holding questions.
I want to share one of the many lessons that I learned this weekend. This particular lesson is about "entanglements":
To be able to live your life's purpose and to walk your path fully, you have to clear your entanglements.
Entanglements are relations that we have with other beings that are impeding our purpose in life. They are not allowing us to follow our heart. They are obstructions. They are holding us down because we are entangled or co-dependent.
Here are 2 questions that you can ask yourself to see if you have any entanglements in your life:
1. Are you trying to give your pain or part to someone else? (hoping that they will make it better)
- This could be several different things from leaning on someone to solve your problems to hoping that someone or something will be your key to happiness.
2. Is someone else trying to hand you their pain or part? (and you're hoping that you can fix it)
- This could be based on guilt, fear or needing to feel self-worth and importance.
The lesson here is only you will do. You have to stand on YOUR own two feet. You have to walk YOUR path. Happiness comes from within.
So how do you untangle from these entanglements?
Create space but not separation.
You can still love and listen but you can only "hold" the other person when they are holding themselves.
And you can only heal yourself when you want to heal. No one else can do it for you.
Take a moment to really think about this.
Where are these entanglements in your life? With whom are they with? What steps can you take to untangle from these obstructions? How can you walk YOUR path and live your life more fully?
